Liverpool agree €31m Lallana fee with Southampton

The 26-year-old England international's agent confirmed a medical took place on Merseyside on Friday, and his move from Southampton could be completed as early as Saturday
Liverpool have agreed a €31 million [£25m] fee with Southampton for Adam Lallana.

The 26-year-old's agent confirmed that the England international underwent a medical on Merseyside on Friday, with hopes that a deal could be confirmed as early as Saturday morning.
"We are getting closer," David Manasseh told
Sky Sports on Friday afternoon. "We are nearly there on the personal terms and [Lallana] is doing a medical at the moment.
"Hopefully, we'll have good news for Liverpool fans probably tomorrow morning."

The winger is keen to join Brendan Rodgers' side in order to play Champions League football.

Liverpool’s initial €25m [£20m] bid for Lallana, which was made on the final weekend of the Premier League season, was rejected by Southampton

Mauricio Pochettino was also keen on bringing Lallana to Tottenham but Spurs were reluctant to rival Liverpool’s pursuit of the player.

Lallana, who appeared in all three of England's World Cup group fixtures, will be Liverpool's third signing this summer following the arrival of Rickie Lambert from Southampton and Emre Can from Bayer Leverkusen.

Lallana's former club Bournemouth will be due €8m [£6.25m] once the transfer is completed, as they have a 25 per cent sell-on clause in the star's contract.
