Mikel Ready and fit for Congo clash

John Obi Mikel
The Chelsea man has been cleared to start for the Super Eagles against the Red Devils as the African champions seek to get a qualification boost
Midfielder John Obi Mikel has been handed a clean bill to start against Congo in the 2015 Africa Cup
of Nations qualifying match at the Stade Municipal in Pointe Noire today.
The Chelsea man was earlier reportedly unlikely to feature against the Red Devils over fears of a slight injury which denied him a playing chance for his club against NK Maribor and QPR in the Uefa Champions League and English Premier League games respectively.
Debunking reports of injury ruling out the 27-year-old, the team's media offficer, Ben Alaiya, has confirmed that Mikel is fit and ready to take part in the important Super Eagles' encounter wh Congo.
According to Alaiya, the Chelsea midfielder participated in the team's training session on Thursday morning and also featured in an 11-a-side warm-up game.
“The doubt about whether Mikel will be part of the trip to Pointe Noire is now cleared up because he is fit," Alaiya told Goal
"He took part in all of the training sessions this morning, and featured in an 11-a-side game so I don’t know where the report that he’s doubtful is coming from. Certainly not from us here or Mikel himself," he concluded.
Nigeria will aim for a two goal-margin win in Pointe Noire against Congo to avenge their first leg home defeat and boost their qualification hopes.
