OFF THE CROSSBAR! Aubameyang is having a field day with his pace, and after another Arsenal attack breaks down, the Gabon forward gets away from Koscielny before driving a powerful effort over via the crossbar. Szczesny was beaten there.
  • 56'
Szczesny has to be alert again as Scoratis hits a powerful effort from 25 yards that swerves in the air, and the goalkeeper does well to hold low to his left.
  • 54'
    Yellow Card Mesut Özil
Ozil's disappointing evening continues as he charges into Schmelzer on the touchline and is rightly booked for what is a cynical foul.
  • 53'
Dortmund just aren't letting the visitors settle on the ball, with Alexis and Ozil unable to have any impact in the final third. Welbeck is becoming increasingly isolated up front.
  • 51'
GREAT SAVE! Almost 3-0 as goalscorers Aubameyang and Immobile combine, with the latter firing in a fine shot that Szczesny has to stretch to tip over the bar. It's a siege by the hosts.
  • 50'
Any hope Arsenal had of quickly getting back into this one have evaporated now, and Wenger may have to change things soon if the Gunners are to rescue even a point from this one now.

    Assist Kevin Großkreutz

    Goal Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
GOAL!!! AUBAMEYANG MAKES IT 2-0! All too easy for the hosts as Grosskreutz feeds Aubameyang on the edge of the box. Szczesny tries to cut it out on the edge of the box, but the striker is able to take it around him to finish into an empty net.

    SubstitutionSebastian KehlMatthias Ginter
In fact, it is Dortmund who make a change at the break as Ginter replaces Kehl. The hosts then kick-off and we are back underway...
  • The two teams are making their way back out onto the pitch, and it will be interesting to see if Arsenal change anything as they look to get back into this one.
  • Wilshere apart Arsenal have been very poor in the first half, and Welbeck will be ruing his miss just before Immobile broke the deadlock. Much for Wenger to ponder at the break. I'll be back in ten minutes to see if the Gunners can mount a comeback.
  • And that is the final action of the half, with Dortmund's fans extremely vocal in their support of their side. The hosts have had 14 shots and eventually they made one count.
  • 45'
    Goal Ciro Immobile
GOAL!!! IMMOBILE GIVES DORTMUND THE LEAD! A quite superb strike from the new signing as he picks up the ball inside his own half before ghosting past Koscielny and firing across Szczesny into the bottom corner. The hosts have deserved that.
  • 43'
Grosskreutz is again able to bring the ball forward on the left before finding Aubamayang on the edge of the area, but the striker doesn't catch his first-time effort well and drags it well wide.
  • 41'
JUST WIDE! Arsenal break to devastating effect as Ramsey and Welbeck combine, with the latter free to angle a drive across Weidenfeller. The shot is a poor one though and bobbles wide of the post. Huge moment.
  • 39'
Finally Arsenal are able to spend some time in the Dortmund half, with Wilshere at the heart of everything. He certainly seems to have got his confidence back in recent weeks.
  • 37'
Ozil chips the set-piece into the box, and though Alexis rose to head just wide, it would not have counted as the offside flag was raised on the far side.
  • 36'
Some neat play by Wilshere in the Dortmund half gives the Arsenal defence a chance to catch their breath, and eventually the England midfielder wins a free-kick in a dangerous area.
  • 34'
GOOD SAVE! Alexis loses the ball inside his own half which allows Kehl to break. The midfielder eventually feeds Aubameyang, and Szczesny has to tip it wide. The resulting corner is half-cleared before Immobile curls a long-range effort into the Poland international's grasp.
  • 32'
Yet another effort on the Arsenal goal as Mkhitaryan skips past Arteta before hitting a low effort that flies narrowly wide of the post. Chances at both ends now.
  • 31'
BIG CHANCE! Gibbs does superbly to skip past two tackles before chipping a cross to the back post. Weidenfeller gets a touch which is just enough to put Welbeck off, and the striker is unable to finish from close range.
  • 29'
JUST OVER! All of a sudden Arsenal are all over the place at the back as the hosts again break down the left through Immobile. Szczesny does well to parry the original cross before Mkhitaryan scoops the rebound over under pressure from Wilshere.
  • 27'
GOOD SAVE! Dortmund again fly down the left-hand side through Grosskreutz before the winger squares for Aubamayeng, who is only six yard from goal. The striker should score, but Szczesny spreads himself to smother the effort when all inside the stadium thought it was in.
  • 26'
The game does seem to have calmed down after a frantic opening, but the Bundesliga outfit continue to dominate possession. Arsenal very happy to sit deep.
  • 24'
Welbeck is struggling to keep hold of the ball whenever he is found in an attacking area, and that is meaning Arsenal are under constant pressure. The former Manchester United man must do better.
  • 22'
Suddenly a shoot on sight policy has been added to the Dortmund tactics as Immobile drives a 30-yard effort well over the crossbar. Arsenal seeming a little more comfortable in defence.
  • 20'
Brilliant play by Arsenal leads to Alexis getting in behind the Dortmund defence, but the offside flag is rightly up before his lobbed effort is saved by Weidenfeller.
  • 19'
Yet another long-range effort from Dortmund as Bender lines a shot up from 25 yards, but it is never troubling Szczesny as it passes harmlessly past the post.
  • 18'
Best move of the night from Arsenal as Ozil brings the ball forward down the right before feeding Welbeck in the area, but the England striker cannot quite get the ball under control and the ball runs away from him.
  • 16'
Immobile is yet to open his Dortmund account since joining from Torino, and he is still waiting as he drags an effort well wide from 25 yards. The hosts are camped in Arsenal's half.
  • 14'
Dortmund create the first real chance of the evening as Socratis does well to control a corner from the right before stabbing wide. Bit of a let-off for the visitors.
  • 13'
Grosskreutz and Aubamayeng have already swapped flanks on a number of occasions, with the Arsenal defence struggling whenever they bring the ball goalwards.
  • 11'
Arsenal do seem to have eventually settled though they have seen very little of the ball as yet. Welbeck has become increasingly isolated, and Alexis among others need to get closer when the Gunners gain possession.
  • 9'
Dortmund look increasingly dangerous on the break, with the pace of Aubamayeng and Grosskreutz causing the Arsenal full-backs problems. Bellerin especially is being targeted on the right.
  • 7'
Arsenal bring the ball forward for the first time in the match as Welbeck looks to get in down the left-hand channel, but the striker is forced to concede a goal kick by Durm.
  • 5'
    Yellow Card Henrikh Mkhitaryan
PENALTY? NO! Huge calls for a penalty by the Dortmund players as Mkhitaryan goes down under a challenge from Arteta, but replays suggest he dived and the refereem agrees. The Armenia international has his name taken for simulation.
  • 3'
Dortmund start brightly as Aubamayeng wins a corner that Arsenal eventually clear, but the visitors have barely made it out of their own half since kick-off, with Mertesacker having to make a number of early clearances.

Arsenal kick-off and we are underway in Germany...
  • The pre-match handshakes are over and we are almost ready to get underway. Can Arsenal cause a surprise again, or will Dortmund make yet another European statement of intent? We're about to find out...
  • The two teams make their way out onto the pitch before the familiar competition anthem is played out over the stadium's speakers. The atmosphere is intense with the home fans making plenty of noise.
  • The two teams are making their way into the tunnel, and with the flags waving outside they are about to enter an arena that will be a wall of noise. The 2014-15 Champions League proper is just five minutes away...
  • There are now less than 10 minutes until kick-off in Westfalenstadion where around 66,000 fans are making a real racket. Known as perhaps the most imposing atmosphere in European football, Wenger will be hopeful his players can again silence the home supporters following their win here last season.
  • Bellerin's only previous Arsenal appearance came as a substitute in a League Cup victory over West Brom in 2013, and he spent last season on loan in the Championship with Watford. The 19-year-old has broken speed records within the Emirates Stadium outfit's squad, but will be tested this evening by Schmelzer and Grosskreutz.
  • Arsenal, meanwhile, make three changes from their draw against Manchester City, with teenage full-back Hector Bellerin making his first Gunners start on the right of the defence. Kieran Gibbs and Mikel Arteta also come in, with Mathieu Flamini ruled out with a thigh injury. Chambers is fit enough to make the bench while Danny Welbeck again leads the line on his own.
  • Dortmund make four changes from the side that beat Freiburg, with Sven Bender and Ciro Immobile among those returning to the starting XI. Shinji Kagawa, who scored on his second debut for the club on Saturday following his move from Manchester United, is only on the bench.
  • Arsenal subs: Ospina, Chambers, Rosicky, Cazorla, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Podolski, Campbell.
  • Arsenal: Szczesny; Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs; Arteta; Alexis, Ramsey, Wilshere, Ozil; Welbeck.
  • Borussia Dortmund subs: Langerak, Amini, Bandowski, Ginter, Jojic, Kagawa, Ramos.
  • Borussia Dortmund: Weidenfeller; Durm, Subotic, Socratis, Schmelzer; Bender, Kehl; Aubamayeng, Mkhitaryan, Grosskreutz; Immobile.
  • Before we go any further, the two team line-ups have been announced ahead of kick-off in just under 30 minutes' time...
  • Much of the build-up to tonight's match has centred on Arsenal's defence following injuries to full-backs Mathieu Debuchy and Nacho Monreal picked up against Manchester City. Calum Chambers is struggling with tonsilitis, and following Thomas Vermaelen, Bacary Sagna and Carl Jenkinson's departures from the club in the summer, Wenger has been left with few senior options to cover in the back four.
  • Jurgen Klopp's side have made an indifferent start to the campaign, with a defeat on the opening day of the league season to Bayer Leverkusen overshadowing their German Super Cup win over Bayern Munich. The 2013 Champions League finalists have since won their next two matches, including a 3-1 win over Freiburg on Saturday.
  • This is the third time inf our seasons that Arsenal and Dortmund have been drawn against one another in the competition's group stages, with the Gunners just about holding the edge of their German counterparts. Aaron Ramsey's header settled the corresponding fixture last season, and Arsene Wenger's side have never been beaten in their six visits to Bundesliga sides in this competition.
  • Hello and welcome to live coverage of the Champions League encounter between Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal. European football's premier club competition sees its group stage get underway this evening, and two of the continents biggest names have been drawn together to get proceedings underway. I'm Tom Maston and I'll be guiding you thorugh all the action Signa-Iduna Park.
